THE NEWSLETTER OF THE RESPONSIBLE FIREARMS OWNERS COALITION AUG/SEPT 1998
FED UP II
PARLIAMENT HILL - OTTAWA - TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 22nd, 1998
The RFOC is proud to be a major sponsor of the BIG firearms rally in Ottawa. Firearms groups and individuals are banding together to send a message to the countrys politicians that the firearms issue is far from dead. Canadas 7 million firearms owners and voters are FED UP at the prospect of the total destruction of this countrys $6 billion/year shooting sports industry and the end to part of this nations heritage.
Here are some reasons why you should participate in the FED UP II Rally
CLUBS, BUSINESSES, and INDIVIDUALS are needed to be sponsors of FED UP II. Please donate generously NOW and become listed as a sponsor of FED UP II. Make your cheques and money orders PAYABLE TO "FED UP II Rally" Mail to: CIBC, Attention: Terri Muus, 1518 Merivale Road, Nepean, Ontario, K2G 3J6

Presidents Report:
We have been concerned with the fallout from Bill C-68 for the past four years. While we have had minimal success in defeating the legislation; we have been able to postpone parts of it for two years. Furthermore, it is possible that it may be postponed once again. We must never concede defeat. While these draconian laws are being implemented at home there are other sinister plots being hatched on the international stage. Groups such as the U.N. Disarmament Commission, Project Ploughshares, World Council of Churches, and Saferworld, just to name a few, are now on the scene and are attempting to influence worldwide opinion toward small arms ownership. (rifles, shotguns, handguns) Observe the news media and you will notice these names appear.
The following eight points are the proposed recommendations from the four U.N. workshops concerning firearms control.
Do you think this cant happen? Isnt that what we thought and said about Bill C-68 becoming law. If you are concerned youd better get involved. We need people to come out to the A.G.M. in September and become directors. Ive said it before and Ill tell you again; three or four people cannot and will not continue to fight this battle unaided. Firearms owners must be prepared to give their time and financial support or we will lose our right to possess firearms. The decision is yours. What are you prepared to do? Dont just sit there and say itll never happen in Canada. Insist that your club become involved, but more importantly YOU have to get involved.
NOTES TO OUR FINANCIAL STATEMENT
Membership and revenues are down again this year. Since the passage of C-68 many gun owners seem to have lost the desire to fight. The Presidents Report shows that C-68 is just the beginning, not the end, of what promises to be a long struggle. It is our opinion that all gun owners may be required to support pro-firearms groups for the foreseeable future; using your money to fight a government using your money to fight you.
"Overhead" of a large membership based organization can be overwhelming. Processing membership renewals, writing newsletters, staying abreast of unfolding events, and miscellaneous office work is a tremendously time consuming operation. Although the directors are unpaid volunteers; we had, until recently, a paid full time office manager. Financial realities have made it mandatory for us to attempt to operate the RFOC office on a volunteer staffed basis. A considerable amount of money can be saved and more pointedly directed to fighting "gun control". Of course, this can only occur if we have the staff to run the office.
